Chris Sandvoss

Chris SandvossBragg Creek has a number of amazing residents an Chris Sandvoss is one of them. Chris is a Luthier, making award winning violins. He doesn't just make them, he plays them too. He's a classically trained performer, but he can also jam with other local musicians on any type of music.

Here's his more formal bio ...

As a singer‐songwriter Chris Sandvoss’ works and rich voice have been compared to those of Gordon Lightfoot, Stan Rogers, and Harry Chapin. In the words of Brian Farrell his songs have been described as ”rich stories from a Canadian perspective”. He is no stranger to the stage. As a classical violist/violinist he has appeared on concert stages across North America and Europe with some of the world’s leading musicians. In addition to performing, he has recorded for The CBC, Hungarian National Radio, Unical, and has provided fiddle tracks for other aspiring singersongwriters.

Chris Sandvoss embarked on a singing‐songwriting journey after the sudden and tragic passing of a dear friend. This catalyst inspired him to share his views of life through song with a genuine care for his audience and the stories told. Poems that were penned years before became songs, songs written in youth were reworked to reflect maturation, and life in the beautiful surroundings of his Rocky Mountain home continues to provide inspiration for a fresh batch of verse and phrase.

As a devout family man, Chris Sandvoss pens introspective songs that are appropriate for all ages and stages of life. His greatest joy is having his children, Tilman and Sabina, spontaneously join in on songs that have accompanied them on travels to interesting places.

Members of his band include his wife Beth Root Sandvoss on cello, Jamie Newsom on bass, and Tim Jeffery on Dobro/Guitar.

Engagements this year include appearances at the Bragg Creek Music Festival, the Ironwood, the Powderhorn Saloon, as well as venues in British Columbia, Wisconsin, and Colorado.
