Lucas Chaisson woke up one winter morning with a decision to make. What to play, what to play? Hockey or Guitar? He went with a left-handed acoustic from his papa, although Lucas plays right – a must see. Lucas delivers a sparse Springsteen-esque folk-blues vibe; however, not given to melancholy or infinite sadness, he includes lots of laughs along the way.
Hailing from Bragg Creek, Sarah Clark has been on stage and song writing since she was a pipsqueak. Establishing herself on the Jones-Krall constellation, she sparkles and radiates as she spins out beautiful tales with haunting piano and a voice that can fill a concert hall.
Susie Forsyth has cool socks and she's been songwriting since she was 10, at which point she swapped crayons and the walls around her house for a pen and paper. With influences as diverse as Automatic Loveletter and Pink Floyd, the lovely Ms. Forsyth combines delicate vocals, no-nonsense lyrics, and slammin' acoustic guitar in 'these boots are made for walking' live performances.
At 18, Calum has made quite a mark for himself in a variety of guitar styles. A self taught composer, teacher and performer, Calum is making an international name for himself in a short time. He has attended Master classes with world-renowned musicians throughout Canada, and shared the stage with greats such as Ian Tyson, and Ian Thomas. This summer Calum won first place at the Calgary Stampede Talent Search, in Ontario he achieved “2nd Place at the Canadian Finger style Guitar Competition, and he was honored as the first recipient of the Colin Simpson Scholarship.
Favoring finesse rather than brute power, RTC continues to churn a furious flurry of nerdy rock-funk. These flyweights also grabbed the coveted ‘boxing purse’ of local radio earlier this year – named one of five Xposure winners on Calgary’s X92.9. They also host the ever popular Collective Showcase on Sundays at the end of each month at Cantos Music Studio in Calgary. The spot to hear the latest upcoming young performers.
After four years of piano lessons, Mat Wilkins got his first guitar when he was 11. Armed with a thirty year old nylon-stringed guitar that used to belong to his uncle, guitar playing became just a hobby. At the age of fourteen, Mat discovered the wonderful world of poetry. He began to write poems upon poems, describing all the things he was most frustrated or happy about. Mat enjoys taking every chance to make his music as different as possible, and takes pride in the fact that nobody can completely pinpoint his genre.
From the funk to the downright nitty gritty soul, music and Ruben go hand in hand. Like a true gent, he remembers Mothers Day and would help you change a tire in the rain. Also, he would make the rain stop but only if you wanted it to. All of his goodness has rubbed off on his jammin' crew, ‘the Lads’, all of whom create SoCal, seventies, Bill Withers Inspired grooves. Man, someone get me some cold tea, Ruben’s about to take the stage.
